Love is Yellow !

One more card with a love theme to go in the box for Operation Write Home!  On this one, I used a sketch that I found on the Stampendous website, although I won't post it there because I didn't use any Stampendous products.  I use their stamps and stickers pretty regularly, but not this time.  Still, I doubt they'll mind I snagged their sketch.  :-)

Freshly Brewed Designs gave us a wonderful photo inspiration to go along with their "Lots of Yellow" theme.

I chose one of the coffee mug images from Freshly Brewed, the one with a rose twined around the handle of the mug.

I printed the image and colored it with Copics, and cut it with a Nesties die.  I adhered it to another Nesties die cut for the rectangular shape in the sketch, but I liked the flower shape of the first nestie for the actual image.

I layered that onto textured, yellow CS from my stash and then matted that with black CS, trimmmed to a bare 1/32 of an inch.  I adhered all of that onto a card base of lemon yellow.  Staying with the black as an accent, I cut a strip of black CS and added it across the front of all the layers on the card front.  Then I started on the handmade flowers for the embellishments.

4 Crafty Chicks wants to see handmade flowers on our cards for their challenge.  Usually, I like to do ribbon flowers when I need handmade flowers but this time I went with flower shapes hand punched from paper and a few punched from a strip of foam.  I layered those shapes together with either two or three layers, then added the tiny metal brads and rhinestones to the centers.  The final addition was the sentiment, printed with one of my computer fonts, and matted with black CS.

Although yellow isn't necessarily one of my 'go to' colors, I like this card (really like it!) and I'm sure it will make someone very happy when they receive it from one of our deployed troops.  Thinking of the joy these handmade cards bring to both the sender and the recipient is one of the perks to doing cards for OWH.  You can read about OWH by clicking on either one of their badges to the right side of my blog.  You might even get interested in doing a card or two for them yourself.

Hope your day is blessed with sunshine and creativity.  Happy Creating.  NanaConnie

OH this is just beautiful!!! I love the layout and the image you chose for it. The punches and flowers really stand out against that pop of black. Great coloring too!
