Li'l Miss Blue

This weekend, I'm sharing with you a few of the last cards I did to fill the box for Operation Write Home.  It got mailed today and will be in the hands of the shippers before the end of the month.  That's my first 150 cards on OWH's Second Million Cards!

This one is done with a digi from Whoopsie Daisy where the theme has been "Free and Easy."  I used a sketch from Eat, Sleep, Stamp, where Tracy just keeps on giving us fabulous sketches every Thursday!

Sketch 135

All her sketches can be done as really CAS or all dolled up with tons of ribbon and embellishments, or anything in between those extremes.  That's my first "go to" place for CAS, for sure.  Here's my card.

The colors came from The Ribbon Reel challenge.  Blogger is giving me problems trying to copy their inspiration photo today so I'll just have to tell you that the colors are Blue, Kraft, Black, and Silver/gray.  There was also the option of making it a masculine card but I wanted to use this particular image so went with feminine instead.  The image is colored with Copics and fussy cut.

I used my Nesties Scalloped Circles (just got it this week even though it's not a new die set) and this time I made a frame out of the kraft circle by cutting two sizes of the circle at the same time, one inside the other.  I mounted it onto a blue CS circle, and then layered that onto a black circle.  Finally, I added the fussy cut image to the top, overlapping the kraft frame.  I like the look of that!

I used a darker blue CS from my stash for the card base, adding a rectangle of gray CS and a wide, silver ribbon.  For additional silver, I added the metallic flourishes.  The blue flowers were the final embellishments.  The sentiment was printed and added to the card.

One of our deployed troops will get to send this home to someone he or she misses -- not hard to find a lot of troops in that category.

So glad you came by for a visit.  Hope you have a few minutes to browse around and leave a comment or two.  I really enjoy reading them.  Thanks to all of you who take the time to comment.  It really is encouraging and helps the creativity flow.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

You colored Miss Daisy so beautifully, Connie, and this card is just so striking! The silver really makes the other colors pop -- I especially like the little silver leaf accents. Congrats on getting your OWH box mailed -- I know they appreciate all that you do! :-)

Connie this is just gorgeous. And you are such a sweet to send this off to our troops to use. They will no doubt let out a gasp of awe just like I did. The blues are so beautiful and perfect for the card. Love, love, love what you did with the nesties too. Thank you for playing along this week and for inspiring me! Hugs, Tracy
