Learn from Yesterday

My card today is a masculine card which can be used for a birthday, for Father's Day, or even a non-occasion.  It's also one of those really CAS designs that I like to do.

I didn't use a sketch this time, just pictured it in my head and then did the layout.

The image is a stamp I got at Auntie Amy's primarily because it would work for masculine projects, and because it has ducks in it, I'll be submitting this to Allsorts for their "Things with Wings" challenge.  I stamped the image onto watercolor paper, using Stayz-on Timber Brown ink, and then did a light blue, watercolor wash for the sky, and a slightly darker one for the water.

The sentiment is printed from my computer.  Inside the card, it says, "...things fathers teach their children.", but I forgot to photograph that.   I matted both the image and the sentiment with blue and dark brown CS from my stash.  Finally, I added the baker's twine (The Twinery), wrapping it around the card front and tying it into a simple bow.

Dream Valley Challenges wants us to "Stamp Something" and Simon Says Stamp wants us to do Father's Day or For a Male projects, so I'm submitting this to both of those challenges.  Additionally, Incy Wincy has a challenge with a "Nature" theme and this really works for that.

Someone asked me the other day why I participate in so many challenges.  I think it's because they teach me discipline (having to follow the general theme or sketch) and they really assist in getting the creativity going.  On a day when I'm not feeling much 'mojo', I find that taking on a challenge of some sort can get things flowing.  I also enjoy planning things out so that I can combine challenges.  Before I start anything, I look at the list of possible challenges, decide which ones seem to work well together, and then start on a project.  For me, that works better than creating something for one challenge, and then trying to make it fit with the requirements of 3 or 4 others.

Well, we've almost reached the weekend and mine is going to be busy with work matters so I may not get much posted that isn't already scheduled.  Hopefully, you'll enjoy browsing my blog, and I hope you find some inspiration -- if not here, somewhere.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
