Journal

Today I want to share with you not a card, but a Journal I made.  Well, actually, I covered and decorated a small notebook which I found on sale at 2/$3.  I got 2 but may have to go back for more since I love this project to pieces!   The design layout is a take off on the Cardabilities current sketch challenge.

I used vinyl paper (made for shelf liner) to make the cover, and that will keep it relatively waterproof should it be set down on something damp.  It also gives a little sheen to the book.  I adhered it with super sticky, double-sided tape and wrapped it around to the inside, making mitered corners.   The title is printed on sticker paper, cut out and attached to the cover.

All the pink and white flowers which are layered on to the lacy doily are from Martha Stewart, and the red heart is a dimensional sticker from EK Success.  The small flower vase is a digi image from Sweet 'n Sassy Designs, where their challenge is to make "anything but a card."  I printed it, colored it with Copics, fussy cut it and attached it to the doily, just below the heart.   Here's a close up of it and you can also see the sparkle and dimensional layers on the Martha Stewart flowers.

Mark's Finest Papers has a challenge to use dimensional flowers this week.  I love the way these are layered and glittered.  My final touch for embellishments and texture (the challenge at One Stop Craft Challenge is texture) was a swirl of pearls in the upper corner and dots of Liquid Pearls in the flower centers and next to the title.  The swirl doesn't show up too well in the main photo so I did a close up of it, too.

I really like the way this turned out and I plan to give it to a very special someone.  However, I can't say any more than that because there's a very good chance she might be reading this blog posting and I don't want to give anything away.

Hope you're enjoying the early part of this week and having fun with your creativity.  I'm so glad you stopped by for a visit, however brief it might be.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie
