House-Sitting Thanks

Friends of mine had a woman house-sit for them while they were gone for nearly a month.  They wanted a card to go with a small gift they are giving her so this is what I created for them.  I used the sketch from Viva la Verve June week 2.

I used an image from Heart Song Designs, a freebie this week which they wanted us to use in a challenge.  Their other challenge option was "Anything Goes" but their freebie image was a perfect fit for the card I needed to do.  This is a new challenge and I heard about it because my friend, Deedee, is on their DT.  Thanks, Deedee!  Glad to know about Heart Song.  Here's the card with the image and now you know why it was perfect for this card.

In addition, I used a recipe from Stamp TV's Free for All Friday challenge which was a complicated one to do on a CAS card!  The recipe is:  2 embellishments, 3 images, 4 colors, 5 or more layers.  Let's get into the card details and see if I covered everything.

The first image is a digi, printed twice, one of which was on pink paper.  I colored the house with markers (pink, green, and yellow -- three of the four colors; brown is the fourth, and I didn't count black or white.)  The tall flower stem and leaves are colored with gel pen but I fussy cut the flower from pink paper and adhered it to the printed flower.  I did the same with the heart on the house.  Then I fussy cut the entire thing and layered that onto a scalloped oval shape, cut from patterned CS by S.E.I., having pink and yellow in it.

I chose Swiss dot dp and checkered dp (the brown for 4th color), both from my stash, layered together with the top corners rounded with a corner punch.  The image oval is adhered to those and the entire thing is layered onto the card base of yellow CS.  So, for layers starting with the card base, I have yellow card base, Swiss dot dp, checkered dp on top of that, then the oval die cut, then the fussy cut image, and the paper pieced flower and heart -- if you count the card base, that's 6 layers, or 5 if you don't.

The two embellishments are the paper flower with the brad in the center and the row of 5 tiny pearls.  The three images are: the leaves at the bottom of the image panel, the sentiment (both from Stampendous), the house and flower.  The leaves and sentiment are stamped with pink ink but it looks more rust on the photo.   I think I got it all!  :-)

OK, now I'm going back to the craft table and get a couple more cards done for the Operation Write Home box that will be mailed to the OWH shippers in about another week.  Take a minute and read about that wonderful organization, won't you?  You can get to their site by clicking on their badge on the right of my blog.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie
