I want to share a card and then tell you about a fun Scavenger Hunt. The info on the Scavenger Hunt is at the bottom of the post.
This morning's card is for the challenge over at Dude Time Doodles where they give us a freebie and we are supposed to design a card using that image. They do this particular challenge once a month and the winner gets to be a guest designer the following month. This month, they introduced Kurtis, the Graduate. Here's what I did with him.

I really like doing the challenges at Dude Time Doodles and I like working with their images because it allows me to make 'guy' cards -- something I once thought very difficult. Now, thanks to those challenges, I find that I enjoy doing cards for guys.
I didn't use a sketch for this one but my design was influenced by Lynn's (DT) card which I CASEd - thanks for the inspiration, Lynn. I followed a recipe from Allsorts Challenges, which had a twist. The recipe is: only 1 design paper, 2 punches (or dies), and 3 buttons. The twist is it has to be a guy card. Kurtis is definitely a guy!
I colored Kurtis with Copics, and then used the same patterned dp (DCWV) for each of the 'blocks' on the card. Kurtis is matted with the dp and then matted again with solid blue CS. Each of the other blocks is matted with the same blue CS. The sentiment is printed onto blue paper and adhered onto one of the blocks. I made up that sentiment for this card because that's what Kurtis' expression and thumbs up seems to be saying. He's definitely on his way -- somewhere!
I added the twine and the buttons, wrapping the twine around the card front, threading it through the buttons and tying it at the top. For the two punches, I used a corner punch to round three of the corners on the card, and another hand punch on the lower, right-hand corner of just the card front. I added two punched out pieces from white CS as photo corners on the image.
I'm going to submit this to The Paper Variety where the challenge is "For the Guys".
NOW, SCAVENGER HUNT!! Sassy Studio Designs is celebrating their 2nd Birthday and instead of having just a bloghop (as many do), they are having a Scavenger Hunt. The have given us a list of items we have to gather up from around the house or craft room, then take a picture of all of them, and post it on our blog plus link it to their blog. If you want to play along, you have until 9:00 p.m. Pacific time tonight to get your picture posted and linked. Start gathering! Here's the list and my picture:
List -- My Item
1. Candy - 3 three pieces of salt water taffy - middle of photo
2. Ribbon - sheer blue ribbon
3. Marker (Copic) - blue and in front of the candy
4. 2 of something -- 2 white flowers in front of the marker
5. Candle - Jar candle on the left
6. Gift Bag - at the very back, was given to me with a gift on my last birthday
7. Something that says "Party" - the gift bag says "Party Hardy"
8. A Sassy Studio Designs image/card - on the right, a white & yellow wedding card
9. Cupcake - the gift bag has a cupcake on it
Everything on the list happened to be at arm's reach in my craft room except the candle. That was in the den. It took me less than 15 minutes to have it all together and ready to photograph. And it was FUN! So, start gathering and play along. You could win Sassy Studio Designs images!!
Happy Gathering. NanaConnie

Terrific card, love all the blue. Great idea to thread the buttons with the twine. Going to have to try this. Thanks for joining the fun at Dude Time Doodles.
Love all the blues and your sentiment is great. Just as Tammy said, I love your idea of threading the twine through your buttons on the side. (Tammy and I think a lot alike, she just usually says it first :-). )Glad you joined us this week at Dude Time Doodles.
