I just had to find a way to use this delightful image from Clear Dollar Stamps!
So, I found a sketch over at Clearly Inspired Challenge;
and a recipe at Cooking It Up with Katie, "Use any current sketch, make it for a birthday, and use yellow."
The image is matted with thin cork, only the thickness of card stock. The olive-green, half circle I cut out by hand after tracing around a roll of masking tape since I didn't have a die large enough. I used a paper cutter to flatten it top and bottom and cut a slice as large as I needed for the card.
I added sheer, green ribbon which has a sparkly stripe in it, wrapping it completely around the card front. The bow is tied separately from the same ribbon and adhered. The sentiment is stamped directly onto the card front with green ink.
I added no other embellishments because I wanted to stay Clean And Simple in the design, which is the challenge at Dutch Dare this week. I also want to be able to put this card in the box for Operation Write Home and CAS is always best for them. My last box went to OWH a week ago, so you'll find me doing lots of CAS cards over the summer. I want to have another box full and ready to mail off by Labor Day weekend in early September.
If you want to know more about Operation Write Home, click on their badge on the right side of my blog and you can read all about them. They are a great organization which ships our donated, handmade cards to deployed troops so they can be used to write home to loved ones. A soldier stationed in Afghanistan can't just run down to the local Hallmark and buy a birthday card for Mom, so you can imagine how much our cards are appreciated when they arrive.
Thanks for stopping by today. Enjoy your visit and feel free to browse around. Happy Stamping. NanaConnie
