As one would expect the week before Father's Day, several blogs have 'Father's Day' as the theme for their challenges; One Stop Craft Challenge, Mark's Finest Papers, Dream Valley, and Delightful Challenges to name just four. This card will go to each of those challenges.
This morning, I used a sketch from Viva La Verve, for Week 1, June, 2011. The great thing about Verve is that they have a new sketch each week but you have all month to do any or all of them.

Here's my card using an image from Dustin Pike at Doodle Dragon Studios.

This is a special card because I did it for a young man who has only his Dad left, and they always celebrate Father's Day with something special to the two of them -- a camping trip, a ball game, fishing... something that the two of them love sharing together.
This camping image seemed perfect since I know it's one of the things they love to do. I printed it and colored it with Copics. I used a Spellbinders scalloped oval die to cut the frame from DCWV dp and adhered the image behind the frame. I set the oval aside to use some other time. Then I trimmed the frame to the size I wanted for the card.
I striped dp is from a pad by Colorbok (can't remember the name) but I like the subtle pattern in the stripes. It worked really well with the soft pattern in the frame. I get to have two patterns and four colors without it looking too busy. I layered the strip onto a white card base, then added the framed image. I printed the sentiment and matted it with a soft-apricot CS, then added it to the image panel. Final touch -- the three, flat rhinestones. I'll take this over to Sanders this afternoon so that he'll have it for his dad next weekend.
I'm doing cleaning chores and laundry this afternoon, but will sneak in a few minutes to finish up three cards which I have started but not finished. I'm really pushing to fill the box of cards for Operation Write Home before next Saturday when I plan to get it mailed to the shipper. I want to do my part on the Second Million cards. :-)
Thanks for dropping by. Happy Stamping. NanaConnie
