Birthday Baby

One more card this afternoon, inspired by challenges at Digital Tuesday (for Flower Power) and Karen's Doodles (for Perfect Purples.)  Interestingly enough, Karen's Doodles is sponsoring Digital Tuesday this week so that made it easy to combine them.

I didn't choose a sketch from a blog this time.  Instead, I found something I liked in Cardmaker Magazine.  Unfortunately, that means I can't show you a picture of the design, but I stuck pretty close to the layout this time, so not having a picture to post shouldn't matter.

I started with purple, periwinkle, and lilac card stocks but in the photograph my periwinkle has turned blue.  So much for 'perfect' purples.  :-)

The image is from Karen's Doodles and is colored with Copic markers.  I cut out the image and use very thin foam mounts to raise it from the white rectangle.  I matted that with periwinkle, then lilac, and finally purple CS, all from my stash.  I added the purple, stitched  ribbon (Really Reasonable Ribbon) diagonally across two of the corners right before I matted it with the purple.  I layered that entire panel onto the card base of periwinkle CS.

I added the sentiment, the white flower petals with the rhinestones, plus one lavender paper flower, for embellishment and called the card complete.  Although it has several layers, it's still fairly simple and lightweight, so it can be mailed without any extra postage.  It fits easily into an A-2 envelope so this one is destined for Operation Write Home

You can read more about that wonderful organization by clicking on the link or on their badge to the right side of my blog.  Those of you who follow my blog already know that I do lots of cards for OWH and these few days of time off have allowed me to get lots of cards done for them.  The latest box is filling up pretty quickly and I shouldn't have any problem getting it full and ready to mail by Labor Day.

Love it when you come by to visit.  Pull up a chair and sit a spell.  Leave me a comment or two, if you like.  Maybe you'll find (and tell me about) something that will trigger your own creativity and then I can come visit your blog!  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Cute card, Connie. I like the layout and how you rounded the corners. And, the flowers are just perfect on here.
