Best Friend - Father's Day

This card makes me grin because of the image!  I know there are lots of us who live far away from our dads, who also just happen to be our best friends, and that's kind of sad.  My dad was always my best friend, and I still think of him that way.  So, this card is for all of the dads who live far away -- I hope it will bring a smile to their faces, too.   I used a sketch from Cardabilities, and took inspiration from the Father's Day theme at Karen's Doodles.

In addition to doing this one for Father's Day, I wanted to enhance the idea of 'best friend', and that brought to mind dogs and puppies.  Go figure!  And dogs and puppies works right into the challenge theme at Stamps R US -- "Pets R US".  So, here's the end result.

That Oh, so, sweet image is from Karen's Doodles, colored with markers and fussy cut, then adhered to a Spellbinders Lacy Circle cut from pale yellow CS.  A turquoise Lacy Circle was cut and applied to the larger circle before the image was attached.  The white circle was punched from white CS with a scalloped hand punch.

The background dp is from Gina K. and the pawprint ribbon came from Joann's, I think.  I added a tiny, yellow flower to the center of the white circle.  I printed both sentiments from my computer, and the "Father's Day" really isn't missing its apostrophe -- it's just so faint with that particular font that it doesn't show up in the photograph.  It's there!  The 'Father's Day' is popped up with Pop Dots.

Another of my CAS designs, and I'd be sending this to Operation Write Home but it's way too late to be sending Father's Day Cards for our troops to use so I'll have to save this one until next year or put it in the "for Sale" stock.   If you don't know about Operation Write Home, click on their badge on the right side of my blog and read about them.  You might get interested enough to make a few cards to donate yourself.  It's a wonderful way to do a little something to support our troops.  I know, I know -- you've heard that before on my blog.  :-)

Thanks for the visit.  Hope you found something fun and interesting while you were browsing around, maybe even a little inspiration or a challenge you want to try for yourself.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
