I was looking for the latest challenge at Meljen's Designs when I saw this newly released image of a kitty cat sitting on the beach. I just had to have it, so I bought it and used it for their challenge theme, "Coastal". I know beach sand qualifies as something coastal. :-)
I used a sketch from Midnight Madness and tried to stay on the simpler side of it this week.

I also used the color challenge from The Play Date Cafe.

I colored the image with a combination of markers and colored pencils, with a touch of sparkly gel pen to the sunglasses. Then I matted the image onto wine red CS and then pale lavender CS. The dp (all three of them) are from Prima, the Fairy Flora stack. The card base is made from lavender CS from my stash.
I did DIY embellishments again for Tuesday Throwdown. The dragonfly 'dots' on the right are punched out of printed CS with a 3/8 inch circle punch, then topped with Glossy Accents. I laid these out on my non-stick, craft sheet, being careful with the amount of GA I used. I didn't want to have it overflow the paper dots but on the couple of places where it did, I trimmed it with embroidery scissors after it had completely dried. I didn't remove them from the non-stick sheet until they were dry. Then I used craft glue to adhere them to the card.
The three flowers on the left side were punched with a hand punch and, after attaching them to the card, I added liquid pearls to the centers. The embellishments took more time than anything else on the card. It's a really simple design, and most of the visual work is done by the dp.
One more CAS card for Operation Write Home. You can read about OWH and what they do by clicking on either badge on the right side of this blog posting. The "Second Million" badge is a link to the month long challenge to get more 'love', 'missing you', 'thinking of you', and even 'birthday' cards to OWH since that seems to be what the troops are requesting. Read about the organization, and maybe get in on this fabulous way of supporting our deployed troops.
Off to church, and I might even have another posting for you this evening, depending on weather conditions and whether or not it warms up enough to make a foray outdoors for BBQ cooking. If not, then I'll hit the craft room again and have something more for you later in the day. In the meantime, thanks for the visit. Enjoy a browse around -- maybe you'll find something that inspires you and gets the juices flowing! Happy Crafting. NanaConnie
