Allsorts DT Call

One last posting today because I've finally finished my card which I'm going to submit to Allsorts Challenges for their open DT call.  If you check out the link above, you can read all about the open call and decide for yourself if you want to apply for it, too.  It's open until June 14 so you still have almost 10 days to consider it.

I did a fairly clean and simple design using a Stampendous cling stamp for the image and decided on a pink and brown color palette.

When I was testing the layout, I tried all sorts of CS/dp and flower combinations including lots of really dimensional roses and a vintage/shabby chic look.  In the end, however, I decided that the tall flowers in the image lent themselves better to a CAS design.  But I couldn't leave off flowers altogether!  :-)

I stamped the image on pink CS from Reflections, using pink ink, then heat embossed the image using clear EP.  I matted the focus image onto dark pink CS and then brown CS (all from Recollections.)  I chose a beige, parchment paper from my stash and stamped the same image using Timber Brown Staz-On ink, double stamping some of the images and overlapping others.  I cut that piece and then matted it with dark brown CS, using it as dp.  I found the woodgrain dp in a Cosmo Cricket pad.

I printed the sentiment from my computer onto pink paper, punched it out with a hand punch, and trimmed it straight across the top before attaching it to the beige dp.  I stacked the two dps and the focus image together, then wrapped the brown, stitched, ribbon around all of them and tied it with a simple knot.

I adhered that entire piece to the base card made from the same pink CS, and added the flowers (all from my stash.)  Final touch was the faux stitching around the sentiment to help it stand out from the background dp.

This card isn't going to be submitted to any of the challenges I normally do because the Allsorts rules are that the project has to be made only for submission to the DT call.

I hope your weekend was superb and that you found some time for creative pursuits in there somewhere.  Thanks for visiting and Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

What a lovely card Nanna.

One of the Stampendous stamps I think, which I just love, they are so elegant as your card shows.

Thank you for joining in our DT call at Allsorts and good luck.

WOW -- this is simply gorgeous, Connie! Such rich colors, and it's fun to see how you created so much texture by using the same pretty stamp on the different parts of the card. Praying you do well with the DT call! :-)
